Between Heaven and Earth — Sacred Orthodox and World Music The Kir Stefan the Serb Choir invites you to an evening of profound musical contrast, where the timeless beauty of Orthodox sacred music meets the vibrant spirit of world traditions. The program opens with a cappella works from the Orthodox choral repertoire, featuring compositions by Serbian and Russian masters, performed in the rich acoustics of St. Paul’s Basilica. These deeply contemplative works reflect centuries of spiritual and musical heritage. The second half of the concert presents a dynamic selection of secular and folk-inspired music from around the world, brought to life with instrumental accompaniment. From the Balkans and Eastern Europe to the Mediterranean and beyond, this part of the program celebrates rhythm, colour, and cultural diversity. Together, these two worlds form a unified musical journey — from prayer to celebration, from stillness to movement — between heaven and earth.
