The Samara Centre for Democracy presents In Defence of Democracy with Carissa Véliz, author of Prophecy: Prediction, Power, and the Fight for the Future, from Ancient Oracles to AI, and Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Oxford. Véliz advises companies, governments, and other public and private institutions around the world on privacy, digital technologies, and the ethics of AI. Véliz's keynote will speak to predictive AI and the future of politics in Canada. Her lecture will be followed by a conversation with renowned journalist and Samara Centre board member Lisa LaFlamme.
